An accreditation or education in a college that provides courses on electronics technology is a basic requirement to qualify as an electrical technician. There are two and four year courses in electrical engineering, electronics, electrical technology that are good knowledge bases in the field of electronics installation and repair. Depending on which field of electronics you wish to work, a degree of skill is necessary to perform the functions of quality control, repair, maintenance and assembly for electrical devices and machinery.

The Installer has several responsibilities and can work in various facets of engineering, electrics and building construction, among others. As an installer, you must be familiar with working on different fields and industry branches that require your expertise as an electrical consultant. You can employ yourself as an independent contractor and set up your own firm that provides electronics installation and repair or work for a consulting company that provides installation and services to corporations and companies that require an electronics installer on certain construction and technology implementation projects. Knowledge in quality control is also important, as working in this field will require you to perform integrity checks and draft recommendations for the safety and viability of electronic equipment when it comes to use and warranty. You will also perform the role of a facilitator, training entry level facilities personnel on basic electronic installation and troubleshooting or create how-to guides on the use and troubleshooting of specific electric equipment for clients.
